Elsa, I just saw this article - https://mises.org/power-market/netanyahus-seizure-syrian-land

Of course no way of contacting the writer/author to ask the question about Erdogan as you correctly pointed to.

Sure you're quite right about Erdogan, but one should remmember that America has always done much worse. It holds the outrageous record of the highest number of invaded countries, topled governments and sanctions all over the world. In the history of the world no nation has even came close to that. There's no way like the American way.

My comment came only because of the huge outcry re Israel. Either people stop the outcry or they cry out about Erdogan. Instead we both know there are 2 uttery different standards.

1. an' others have said it too (sssh, not the fella with the mustache tho!) AND.... I know Israel is holdin' down parts of Syria but I'm curious to see if they are holdin' 'em down "for now" as they say strategically--generally Israel has NOT been acquisitive -- if they become conquered territory THEN that's an'nuther story. However...

2. when the UN carved up the territory there were some major important sites left out--Jerusalem was one of 'em -- not given to Israel (for joos & christians alike )... an' fwiw Gaza AND the W. Bank (by other names) were originally part of Israel (I think Golan Hts. too--gotta check).

3. In SPITE of what everyone & their brother'll tell you Joos do NOT wanna take over the world. Joos make nobuddy convert (quite the oppysit--they try to DISCOURAGE people from converting lol)--they do not make you bow down in prayer to "their" god 5x a day, they do not set up temples as "military" strongholds which are, indeed, mosques. Joos in all nations--France, the US, may hold what many say "too many positions of power" ('nuther story for an'nuther time) but mostly blended in with ANY nation they come to--they learn the language, the history, the laws, an' even celebrate those nations 'best they can. Joos don't hate America, Canada, England, Ireland... any of the nations that let "us" in an' sometimes were not even / always so nice to us. STILL we don't wanna burn flags OR take over... jus' sayin'--

4. "Greater Israel" is not some super-globalist plot--it's an old 19th C "zionist" (in the more innocent un-tainted version of the term) "wish" expressed as a re-statement of the really much older biblical covenant that Israel would once again get BACK the territory that was...originally--Israel's --when it was a state 3000 years ago. This is indeed a far bigger slice of the Middle East AND I would not (at least not now) dare opine on this as mostly only the ultra-orthodox have spoken about this non stop--but my own crackpotty opinion is that whatever Israel IS doing now--I'm SURE they will not take over the entire Middle East. They will NOT "occupy" the US or France or England or Germany--joos never have done this. BUT they may be seekin' to re-establish original land from the biblical "greater Israel" and of that--I really cannot speak nor pass judgement on unclear intentions... HAD Israel been left alone--in peace, I DO know it would not have sought to defend/expand/protect/acquire borders beyond what was set forth in 1948...

Just a few thoughts... All ears fer the words of MANY nations that have expansionist aims... (the USA is one too! we've gone to war as well on this)!

FWIW my guess is that Erdogan is a Donmeh. Which would render your contrast somewhat moot.

Warring people everywhere you look. Why does my heart not yearn for world domination? What is wrong with me for wanting the predominant force in the world to be Godly love, not hatred and bloodlust.

At my advanced age, I was finally given the gift of faith in our Lord, Jesus Christ. It is in Him, that I find truth, love, and mercy. Although I tried to find that deep feeling and recognition of faith on my own for many years, I was always unsuccessful. It just popped up into the core of my being one day unexpectedly. Thank you Lord for that gift which has changed my life forever.

I have never been one to welcome hatred for anyone, but the new me has etched those feelings in impenetrable metal, much harder than stone.

I don’t really believe it is the majority of people that wish to rule over others with an iron hand but apparently, the numbers that are willing to accept such tyranny, are sufficient to allow some people the encouragement to walk that path.

I pray the Lord will gather his legions of angels soon to end all the dark feelings of some people for world dominance. We are given such a beautiful creation and need to stop all the efforts to contaminate and other wise destroy it.

The "glorious" history of the Ottoman empire. Napoleon tried it and look what happened to him when he invaded Russia. The US has been at it since WWII. Israel was created as a military outpost for the Brits during WWI, and Israel is still the tip of the spear for the US and Britain.

I rather suspect Israel (or at least the men who control her) was in charge all along. The Jewish money power has been entwined with the British and American empire since before there was an empire, and the Jews first influenced and eventually siezed control of the empire long ago. By the time of WW1 the whole operation was dancing to Rothschild's tune.

Such boring Prager U-style apologetics for your fellow Israel Firsters. Yes Erdogan has ambitions to renew the Ottoman Empire. The Turkish president talks a good anti-Israel line which he must do for his own Constituents. But commercially, Erdogan is right in bed with Israel which is definitely the biggest beneficiary of what is going on in Syria.
