Elsa, I’ve been going over the instructions for writing to Ed. I wrote a note on a card, but there is writing on the back of the card too. Should I just write a note on a sheet of paper on one side instead? If my card will be disqualified then I won’t send it and I’ll write on paper. Also, can I send a card with a letter written on paper on one side enclosed in the card? I’ve got lots of cards so if I can’t send this one I won’t.

If you wrote on the back of the card, that is not likely to get to him. They have rejected even scanning one side of a letter from someone who wrote on both sides of the page!!! (If it's just from the card company on the back, my guess is that's okay.) You can copy whatever you wrote on a sheet of paper. That way he is (my guess) more sure to get it. THANK YOU FOR BEING SO CARING.

Thanks so much! I didn’t mail the card yet so tomorrow I will just write on a sheet of paper on one side.

Ed let me know the titles. I looked up the books online. They sound fabulous!!! I remember, as a child, being taken to see the Lipizaner horse show - what training - these amazing white horses. The other story too!! The books sound absolutely great!! And very right for Ed.

I found a Sense of the World at the library

a number of years ago. It was a great read. I thought Ed would like it. I saw the Lippizaner Stallions perform in Toledo, OH when they were on tour. It was fascinating. I’d love to see them again if they come to Pittsburgh. I read some of the Marguerite Henry horse books to my kids years ago. She also wrote White Stallion of Lipizza. I gave a copy of it to my daughter. Walt Disney produced Miracle of the White Stallions in the 1960s. It was on their rescue during World War II. I listened to The Perfect Horse on Audio. The author, Elizabeth Letts has several good books. I thought Ed would like it as well.

He has not yet received your letter. I'll let you know when I get the message. I also need everyone who writes to him to put at least their email address on the letter, so I can pass on his thank yous. (He is only allowed to mail 2 letters a week - so he can mail to me, and I can email on.

I rewrote it and dropped it in the mailbox today. Next time I will put my email on it.

Praying for Ed as well. I had Amazon send 2 paperback books to Ed and followed your directions Elsa to a T so he should get them. Soon I’m dropping him a line. I’m just slow.

I don't know if I'm on the right track about the writing. It's just what came to mind. I know I've been stuck myself.

Thank you so much for sending Ed the books. I will ask him to let me know when they arrive. As for dropping him a line, so many of us have inner blocks to just writing, especially as Ed is not someone you know. What to say? A suggestion: tell him a bit about who you are, and why you care. And that you're praying for him. Make the writing easy. Maybe even put a time limit: 15 minutes. It's not about perfect.

Yes, these are great suggestions and I have also sent him relatable quotes and poems as well to hopefully lift his spirits. I tell him he is not alone and that many care and are praying for him. I hope this lifts him up.

Yes, what you are doing is great. Reiner has a large support network, and keeps saying how important this is for him - all the letters of support. Ed has lived a very different life - more like so many people. Every bit of support for him is so very important.

so much cruelty in the world, whilst the criminal perpetrators live in luxury. No words, just am thinking of Ed and sending heartfelt positive vibes.

Loved his story, it seems to be the ones that understood what freedom was at a young age and didn't get indoctrinated that always sought truth and justice.

That early commitment to freedom - very impoertant.

This story was quite entertaining. If it was a truthful representation of the facts involved, it would serve as another example of injustice perpetrated by the misuse of our wonderful judicial system.

It should grieve the hearts of everyone to learn of the personal suffering some people have experienced as a result of being unjustly accused of criminal activity.

My prayers are directed at comforting those innocent individuals who have had to suffer through such cruel circumstances and for God’s mercy to intercede and correct the wrongdoing.
