I am unsure about the reason .. but I'm going to take a stab at a possible reason. Obviously to demonize Reiner is the goal .. and by associating him with people who are thought of as a problem in society is a common way to paint Reiner with a broad brush. Another reason may have to do with how Muslim Lore/Law works .. being based on the Koran .. it is different from US Law which is based on the Bible Lore/Law. I'm not sure how the legal system works in German (or is supposed to) .. I am not sure if the Bible is used in the courtroom. Flip the situation and imagine yourself in a Muslim country facing a charge under Muslim law with the Koran. You can be taken advantage of .. !!! I don't think Reiner is in any danger from the Muslims .. but he could certainly help the Muslims learn what their rights are!
