Two riveting stories.

Most of us know of Reiner Fuellmich. Fewer people know of Howell Woltz, who spent 7 years in an American prison, utterly innocent. Why his imprisonment? He did not turn a blind eye to the actions of someone he thought was his friend, someone powerful who did not provide, on request, chain of custody of a considerable sum of money.

Almost everyone knows ofTo Kill a Mockingbird. Injustice. As I remember it: a good white lawyer does what he can to save a black man wrongfully accused of rape. He fails. Far fewer know that there is more than one set of prisoners wrongfully imprisoned in the US. There are those from a disadvantaged group, in the wrong place at the wrong time. And there are those who have run afoul of unscruploous rich powerful men - like Howell Woltz did. A powerful story.

As for Reiner, yesterday I wrote that, day after day, there’s an outpouring of love for him. This morning, in my inbox, an email from Marie-Claude (who has written to the Canadian embassy and was part of Carolling for Reiner). She sent an image of Reiner and the words: “This is the man with the million dollar smile and the spirit that will never die.”

The consequence: 87 months - 7 years 3 months - in prison.
No trial. His book: JUSTICE DENIED.

Howell Woltz was just doing his job within the banking system. Money needed a chain of custody. A fairly large sum did not have it. He warned the person - supposedly a friend - 3 times that he would need to report this. Silence. So he did what his work required him to do. He did not expect the consequence.’
