MY SENSE: WE NEED COMMUNITY. The Power of Community Awareness, Group Consciousness. LINKS TO SEVERAL TIMES.

It’s long been my sense that we need community. I grew up without it.

My father held that he didn’t emigrate to Canada to become part of any Austrian or German group. I remember his very different friends: Indian, black, Jewish, French Canadian, English Canadian, also German. Great, all these different people.

Not so great: no sense of community, not even a community of people who didn’t want to be part of an ethnic community.

And now, here we are, so many of us feeling isolated in our awareness of what is going on (part of it, anyway - hard to be sure of it all).

What good could community do? What could it bring us, more community, more people gathered together - maybe best in person but also amazing online?

I hold that we are more than the sum of how many we are. Together we may be part of a Community Connection, Community Consciousness.

Anyway, recognizing the power of a Community of Awareness is one reason for launching the Truth Teller Community. So many of us are without a good solid shared “home base."

This was, I believe, part of the power of the Corona Committee - the content of the interviews, week after week, gave many people a kind of group consciousness. about the information.

There’s more to community: we can learn more strategies for effective actions, we can meet fabulous people, we can relax with like-minded others and be stimulated to explore further. That’s just a tiny bit.

The Truth Tellers Community has its official start next week.

Note: I will continue to send out all information I get about Reiner. I am expecting to be able to give an update on Friday. I will also continue to have the occasional support meeting around Reiner, though I can feel there is much less urgency for that now. That does not, however, diminish the importance of community. in general.

I will end with more thoughts.

Over and over, it’s been going through my mind: the power of Community Awareness, Group Consciousness - and the frequently devastating impact of a lack of such awareness. A million individual awarenesses may have less importance that a thousand people united in a Community Awareness.

This is speculation, not researched.

The current spark for this thinking (because I’ve had similar thoughts many times before): the film, Other Losses. When the book came out in 1989, what it documents caused massive individual awareness in many countries. Some people even believed the book would lead to a general shift in the understanding of what happened at the end of World War II.

That did not happen.

I hold that one reason for this is that there was no Community of Awareness committed to the evidence presented in the book and, in 2015, the film. Individual awarenesses are easy to fade away, through the ongoing iteration of the narrative - and that is what happened - except for those intensely committed to getting out the truth, like the author, James Bacque.

I remember that something similar happened with the release of Not Evil, Just Wrong, which shreds Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth. A huge immediate outcry. But now, a bit over a decade later, how many have even heard of Not Evil, Just Wrong?

Note: I do see that Not Evil, Just Wrong is one film in the body of works that bring together climate science against the mainstream climate narrative.

What a group knows, I hold, is different from what an individual knows. It is amplified - even, say, with a tiny religious group or tiny political group.

There are ever so many more reasons for being part of a community. It’s one of the basic human urges - so that many people confirm not to be thrown out.

It’s a place for like-minded people can connect and go further.
