A Comment regarding Fischer and Reiner. And a Response. Then, no news about Reiner for a few days. But yes, a support meeting.

First, to new readers, welcome.

Then, a comment from a reader stays in my mind, about the mood in Germany: “this mood is neither pro Füllmich nor pro Fischer. The horror at the public embarrassment of the Committee, which both have done, is enormous.”

I believe the comment stays in my mind because it does not go with my memory of events. I remember Fischer making a very public announcement after - so I learned later - Reiner had been tricked to stay away from a meeting. I also remember no immediate response, then Reiner’s responding, in an interview, because he needed to. I remember his saying that he had wanted everything dealt with privately, but now was speaking because he had no other choice. Like him, I could see no other choice. In fact, I was relieved to hear him speak, to give his account of events.

This was before I had ever interviewed him. I just knew him from the Corona Committee interviews and had been impressed.

But back to that my memory is very different from 2 people doing public denunciations of each other. My memory is one person doing a public denunciation, and the other being forced to respond - and then going on to put massive energy into his new project, ICIC - the International Crimes Investigative Committee. Excellent interviews with people who had long delved into what is going on in the world.

I do not see it as shameful to protect oneself by telling the truth.

I even remember that, in the recent interview I did with Reiner, I mentioned to him how he was now so focussed on his current project, rather than being absorbed in the past. He agreed. He was eager to go further with his ongoing project. Justice.

Again, I do not see it as a matter of embarrassment or shame, what has happened.

It’s a mess, and important to clear up.

In other words, it is a shame that it happened, because of the damage it has caused - but nothing to be ashamed of, on Reiner’s part anyway, that I can see.

What all will be unearthed? I don’t know.

And now, the news I have is that there will be no news for a few days. Dagmar Schoen, Reiner’s attorney, is scheduled to be meeting with him today, November 1st. That has meant travelling, and then there will be a long time spent with Reiner, and then the trip home.

I will send news when there is news.
